But first, a weekend recap.
I spent Friday night in watching the basketball games. March Madness is just so much fun, I do not understand how someone could not enjoy this time of the year. A highlight from my night... the Duke loss :)
Couldn't help it. Moving on.
Saturday morning I got up bright and early and headed out to the Wabash Trail. I planned to tackle my 17 miles and felt pretty pumped and mentally prepared. It was even a beautiful morning and about 60 degrees, perfect weather.
Oh but this run was anything but pretty. It was rough, my legs didn't feel like they were really warmed up until about 5 miles in, and I just could not focus. It was a long, painful run but I got it done. On the plus side, my ankles didn't bother me and my shin splits didn't flare up - I knew running on the trail would really help relieve this stress.
Oh well, there's always next week for a good run. This was a good wake up call for me, a reminder of how important it is to treat your body right while training. Later that afternoon I met Kari's family for lunch (they drove up here from Alabama!) and then literally slept the day away. No St. Patty's celebrating for this tired girl.
On to Sunday, I woke up this morning and spent lazy Sunday with Colby in bed while enjoying coffee and CMT music videos. This afternoon I met Kari and her parent's again at Rock Bottom to watch the UNC v. Creighton game.
For those of you who did not know, Creighton is located in downtown Omaha. I live about 4 blocks away from their campus and run in that area all the time. So to say I was an outcast at the restaurant being the only Carolina fan is an understatement. But no worries, I represented UNC Basketball well and was a true fan, clapping as loud as I could and yelling for the boys every time they scored (I had received many dirty looks by half time). And I can tell you after that game, all next week I am going to run around Creighton's campus in a Carolina shirt. No one takes cheap shots on John Henson (and winks to his coach about it) and fractures Kendall Marshall's wrist and gets away with it.
On to Monday.
