And I'm Back

Yeah I know its been a while since I have updated my blog, but for good reason. On Wednesday afternoon I took off on a jetplane headed south-east for the land of the pine: Raleigh, NC. I was so excited to head home, spend some time with Matthew, my family, and my friends. Reason for the trip home: my 23rd birthday! On Thursday, February 23 I turned 23 years old! What a great way to start off the year of 23, hanging out with my friends and family!

When I was at home, I did not blog, I did not check my e-mails, I really didn't even take any pictures...I wanted to be completely present. It felt so great to surround myself with the one's I love the most. Quickly, in list form, here's a brief re-cap of all that went down while I was at home:

-an Oreo Cookout milkshake
-time spent with my mom at Farmer with her 1st graders
-lunch with two great friends from high school
-birthday dinner with the family and Matthew at Natty Greenes
-lunch at Sticks and Stones (favorite place for lunch in Greensboro)
-coffee at Fosters in Chapel Hill
-shopping at Southpoint with my Momma
-a morning walk with Matthew around Lake Johnson
-lunch with Matthew's mother and his brother at Firebirds
-State v. UNC club baseball game!
-Sushi at Sushi Thai
-a night out in Raleigh with a few good friends from college

The trip was so much fun and way too short. I did manage to take these two pictures at Fosters:

Those are literally the only two pictures I took while in NC, but so worth spending some great quality time with the family and friends.

And now I am back in Omaha. It is kind of bittersweet, I'm over half-way done with my year serving in Americorps - I enjoy the city of Omaha and the friends I have made here, but I miss everyone and everything about North Carolina.

On the upside, its raining today. This is great because ITS NOT SNOW! Rain means that its getting warmer and spring is on its way! I am spending this rainy day catching up on some work at Aroma's, the cute little coffee shop in the Old Market, with a huge cinnamon roll (for real, the best one I have ever eaten) and a bottomless cup of coffee.

Hope everyone is having a great Tuesday! I promise I'll be back to more regular blogging this week :).
