Back to Nebraska.

So my time at home was amazing. A great relaxing vacation with the celebration of the wedding of two of my close friends, Abby and Luke!

But it came time to head back (north)West to good ol' Omaha. Colby (who was loving the relaxing time in NC) was not too excited about the 20 hr car ride.

So because I was heading back to Nebraska without Matthew, my mom decided to make the trip with me. We took off Monday morning and ran into some crazy unexpected weather...

SNOW!

Honestly, it was snowing from Virginia to Indiana. Thankfully we made it safely to Illinois in about 11 hours and took off to enjoy the amazing pizza from Papa Del's (a second time for me).

It was absolutely amazing again. Then after a great nights sleep, we took our time in the morning and walked around the University of Illinois. Mom really enjoyed walking into some of the old classroom buildings and visiting her old sorority house as well as the church where she and my dad got married. And of course we stopped in her favorite place: the Union.

Then we hit the road again. This time it was a much easier route. The trip from Champaign Il. to Omaha is so easy and relaxing, only about 7 hours of farmland. But we did make a stop before Omaha in Des Moines. One of mom's favorite shows: Morning Joe, was filming at a coffee shop in downtown Des Moines so we decided to stop in and get a cup of joe....at Java Joes!

From there, just a short 2 hr cruise ended us in Omaha. Naturally, the first thing we did was head for Roja and enjoy some amazing Mexican food!

What a great little adventure we had traveling halfway across the country! And we've already had a few days back full of great food, exploring, and cooking. More to come on my mom's visit to Omaha soon!
