Weekend Recap: Part I of III

This weekend was full of fun! Friday was Matthews 23rd birthday. What an old man!

And what a cutie :)
So in honor of this great celebration, I've been planning a special surprise for this weekend....

A TRIP TO THE ROCKIES!!

Matthew had never seen the Rocky Mountains and because we live only about 8 hours east of Colorado, I decided this would be a great birthday surprise (I know, I'm a great girlfriend :) ).

So Friday morning I told him to pack a bag and be prepared for cold weather. By the time I got home from work at noon, he was anxious and ready to go. We loaded up the car and took off to the West. The little one even came with us.

She is not a huge fan of long car rides

FYI: If you have ever wondered what the state of Nebraska looks like, here it is...

We literally drove clear-cross the entire state and the view didn't change much. But as the sun started to set and we got closer, it definitely gave me a new appreciation for "middle America."

After almost nine hours, we arrived to our hotel in Westminster, CO. A nice Double Tree situated about halfway in between Boulder and Denver.

Someone was pooped from all the driving and claimed her spot quickly
We pretty much headed straight to bed, trying to rest up for the early morning on Saturday. I planned a pretty jam-packed weekend, so much more to come in the next two posts!
