A Lunch Surprise

This afternoon I had the chance to attend the UNMC Student Plaza Dedication Ceremony. Now truthfully, the only reason the girls I work with and I attended was for the free lunch offered to students (we still look young enough to pull off student status).

The ceremony was outside and it was a pretty day but it is definitely getting chillier. There was even a polka band out there playing some interesting songs.

This is a picture of the new memorial plaza right in front of my building, the Maurer School of Public Health.

As you can see, a lot of people showed up. You know free food will bring people out no matter what.

While we were sitting, partially listening to the speaker, I overheard that Warren Buffet was in the audience. If you don't know who he is, Warren Buffet is a famous entrepreneur and one of the most success investors ever. He was named the richest man in the world in 2008 (beating Bill Gates who had held the title for the previous 13 years). I was very excited and just wanted the chance to see him from a distance. Turns out he was handing out the free ice cream! I got the chance to walk up to him and ask him, "chocolate, please :)" and "thank you!" So not the most interesting conversation, but we talked none the less! What a great surprise!

Here's a picture a friend of mine from work took (that is my face turning around :).
